Steve Kaneshiki is Back to Basketball Staff as an Assitant Coach
Steve Kanehshiki, who used to be an interim coach of the women’s basketball team, has joined the women’s basketball staff as the assistant coach. Steve has many success stories to tell and it cannot be denied that he truly deserved this title. While his three-year stint as the head coach of women’s basketball team in Morrisville State, he had led the team to their best ever performance in the season. He also managed to get the team through to the conference championship game.
When Steve took over the team, it was pretty young and inexperienced. Not many people were really talking about the team back then. However, he turned the tables around for Morrisville State and showed them the path to success. In the first season the team was 1-24 and in just two years the team’s best performance rose to 20-8. The team also managed to reach the championship game of NEAC. NEAC stands for North Eastern Athletic Conference. Steve has also coached Morrisville’s first NEAC Rookie.
In the beginning, Steve was the part of the game as an assistant, which was way back in 2005. He served as an assistant with the team Rutgers-Camden. However, he came back to Chestertown in 2007 summers to serve as the assistant coach. However, his performance saw him getting the promotion as the interim head in October of the same year. In the season of 2007-08, he was appointed as the coach of Shorewomen’s first-team selection.
Steve has served in different roles in his career which has spanned for several years.
